Buddy System

Many seniors find themselves lonely and isolated. As they grow older, they are more frail and become potential easy preys to financial, psychological, emotional or physical abusers.
In an effort to try to protect our seniors better, MCDC has developed the "Buddy System" that pairs a volunteer with a lonely senior of the same sex and at risk of being abused.
- The volunteer visits or telephones the senior at least once a week;
- Inquires about their general health and makes sure they are secure;
- Lessens their feeling of isolation by offering social and friendly support.
If you know of a lonely, isolated and vulnerable senior who could benefit from a friendly visit or phone call, who is at risk of being abused or whose health is deteriorating, we invite you to contact MCDC.
