MCDC has built a strong partnership with the English-speaking schools in its territory and offers students diverse activities to develop life skills, promote volunteering and connect with community organisations.
MCDC in Thetford Mines
- MCDC Children's Library
- MCDC has created a new section in its library to encourage students to read and improve their skills. We are collaborating with St Patrick's Elementary School teaching staff to bring students to MCDC and visit our library.
- Intergenerational Activities
- MCDC has established intergenerational activities with community members and the local school such as the pen pal project and seniors and children reading together and Christmas activity.
- School Readiness Kits for K4 & K5 students
- We support parents and the kindergarten students at St Patrick's Elementary School by preparing school readiness kits for K4 and K5 students to develop and reinforce critical skills in early childhood.
- Megantic Community Foundation Bursary Program
- The Megantic Community Foundation gives out three $500 bursaries each academic year. Two of the bursaries are given as a surprise to graduating Secondary 5 students and one bursary is awarded to a mature student.
SSEN in Levis
- School Transition Kits for K4 students at St Vincent Elementary School
- Community Facebook group for English-speaking parents and families living in Lévis and the south shore
